Wooden Train Set with Table

Seems very reasonable, compared to others I've seen,so wondered if it's really as good as it looks.

Looks small to me.

goingfor3 · 09/10/2007 14:38

Looks lovely!

Bubbaloo · 09/10/2007 14:39

It's 4ft long so don't think it's too small.
Was thinking of getting it to keep in Ds1's bedroom. He's 28 months.

Looks like a bargain to me. You don't want it too big as LO's can't reach the middle of the table and it will take up too much floorspace. Can put the track on the floor when DC are older anayway.

More importantly - is it compatible with the wooden Thomas trains?

Bubbaloo · 09/10/2007 14:44

That's a good point-never entered my head about Thomas, although Ds doesn't have any Thomas trains.
I have just looked at the height and although as NAB3 has pointed out,it isn't very tall in height.I think it's probably fine though as he won't play with it standing up iykwim.

DH made one, to almost identical dimensions and I reckon that's just about right - it started out bigger but we trimmed it down. Still in use, but for playmobil and lego. The train track snakes all round the house when it comes out now!

The track looks like the brio/ELC stuff, but wouldn't harm to check if it's compatible.

Bubbaloo · 10/10/2007 00:00

Well...dh went out at 7pm to get it and he has just finished putting it together.
It's really quite big and very well made too. We've set it up in the living room and covered it with a big blanket, ready to surprise ds with in the morning.Very very pleased with it-it really is nice.

Bubbaloo · 10/10/2007 00:09

I know,he'll really like itsmile].
We covered it up mainly though,so he'll eat his breakfast in the morning. If it wasn't covered I'd never get him to sit at the table.

Breakfast with the trains...
Go on you know he wants to.

Bubbaloo · 10/10/2007 00:16

sKerrymum-That's excellent that it takes the other trains too.I'm really surprised how big it is.I've had to push the sofa back as it's taken up most of the floor space in the living room.
Tomorrow evening when dh gets in,he's going to take it upstairs and set it up in ds's bedroom. What's the bet he'll be awake most of the night playing with it.

That's great to hear. The drawers look like they'll really come in handy and we can put lots of his other toys in them, which'll tidy up the room.

Bubbaloo · 10/10/2007 00:29

Thanks,I shall keep that in mind.

We've only set it up very basic at the mo and haven't put the mountain and bridges up yet as dh will have to take it all off tomorrow,in order to carry it upstairs. It'll probably then take him another 4 hours to set it up properly.

Did he LOVE it, Bubbaloo??? bet he did

Bubbaloo · 10/10/2007 18:45

Yes...he loves it.He started playing with it after breakfast, about 8.30 and was still playing with it a few moments ago whilst I was trying to put his pj's on.It is very big though so I'll be glad when dh puts it in his bedroom tomorrow evening.Have a feeling he won't want to leave his room ever again though.
