I need to buy red wine as a present I don't touch the stuff and have no clue! Please could anybody point me in the right direction of a decent bottle around £20. Much appreciated

Well you can either go new world (US, Australia etc) or old world (France) - personally new world wines can be great value. I would choose a Pinot noir from New Zealand, as they have great flavour.

Such a personal thing.

Do you not know what the person normally drinks? If you do then likely we'd be able to point you in the direction of something similar

Do you know what they like? I.e. do they like a light red such as a Pinot Noir, or a richer red like a Shiraz?

Your best bet is to pop into your local independent wine merchant as you'll get the best value for money and they'll really know their products. Supermarkets really aren't geared up for special bottles of wine.

Thanks for replies I really am clueless. It's just my cousin done me a favour and when I asked what her and partner drink before she said red so I just thought I'd grab a bottle as a token really.
