Mooncups - does anyone really use them? Did Warthog find hers?!

I am interested in mooncups - are they really practical to use or is it just a £20 mini jelly mould? I would love to hear if you girls are using them - I like the idea but I find myself thinking of all sorts of problems with them!

lol - of course people are using them - just search the archives.
I got mine in Feb this year and would NEVER go back to anything else.

I use mine as much as possible, some times i find i am too heavy to use it, although ther eis no reason not to use it on heavier months.

Got one, use nothing else, love it

Thanks chasingsquirrels - never looked in archives before!

What makes them so much better than tampons?

for me, since I had ds1, tampons have always leaked, only a bit, but all the time so I have had to wear a liner aswell, have tried the biggest size - didn't help.
With the mooncup - no (thats NO) leaks .
That alone does it for me, and then people started talking about the tampon fibres being shed inside you (which I hadn't even considered).

Re the comment on flow being too heavy - on my first day I have to change it every 2/3 hours or it gets full, but that is still better than tampons with a continual leak, and changing every 1/2 hours on the first day.

Just been looking at the other threads and there is a bit of a divide of opinion (as usual). I don't think I get that heavy a period but I have to have something reliable as I teach and can;t just pop out to the loo when I want (In fact, with all sorts going on, I can often not go for 4 hours so would need something reliable). Words like 'slipping down' and 'chafing' are a bit of a turn off!

I don't want to be like I was with reusable nappies - really evangelical and then realising that teaching with 3 small children was enough, without washing nappies too!

I use the mooncup and would also NEVER go back to anything else. My periods are more managable. Love my mooncup!

purpleturtle · 05/10/2007 16:27

I love mine too - even though it does often leak a bit. I just use a towel as well, and could easily manage 4 hours.

Lio · 05/10/2007 16:29

Mine has leaked every single time but I haven't given up yet. I don't want to face up to the possibility of just having a weirdly-shaped fanjo and

NannyL · 05/10/2007 17:37

I love my mooncup

been using it about a year and half

apart from 1 random month it never leaks and i go 24 hours between changing it!
