Handbags - where to buy? what to go for?

DH has suggested maybe buying me a decent handbag for Christmas. I have never owned one at all, other than 3 or 4 cheap ones for nights out or a ball. But a few times this year I have needed one.

I want something decent, modern and fashionable but not going to date too quick, something I can dress up and down ideally, and something I can use with many outfits. Got to be big enough to fit in:

  • wallet/purse
  • spare contact lenses
  • mobile phone
  • lipstick and compact

But not much more really.

Any ideas, especially of places to look online to give Dh some ideas. Although he will probably make final choice when he has seen a few I like.

Ta

I know there are probably some lovely ones, DH was thinking more expensive than Next though. It's too be my main pressie from him and something he has been asking to get for me for a while now.

Sorry - just read that back, and it sounds really off doesn't it? Don't mean it too honest. Just I know he wants to splash out a bit.

look at john lewis the radley ones are always popular with a freind of mine

whizzz · 16/10/2004 21:12

I like Fiorelli bags - range of prices & they always have just enough pockets inside for the important bits & bobs. Never bought on line though.

Hulababy · 16/10/2004 21:12

Going to look there next time I walk into town Coddy. Thanks

I like some of those in John Lewis. Might try and persuade Dh to have a walk down in the morning, before we go out.

Ergh - just looked at www.Fiorelli.co.uk & they all look a bit grim - honestly I have about 4 bags & they are not all pink with bows !

serenequeen · 16/10/2004 21:20

hmmm. gap have some really fantastic pink suede bags atm. i would try orla kiely for really good mum friendly bags. otherwise, online for a big gift i would look at Net A Porter for a glipmse of what is the latest word on bags.

codswallop · 16/10/2004 21:20

Hulababy · 16/10/2004 21:22
