online sofabeds - tips please!

Can anyone give me any help? I need to buy a sofabed online. We're moving house and am currently housebound with pregnancy complication. DH flat out at work.

We need it for everyday sitting and occasional guests.

We don't want to break the bank as baby on the way (and the baby will no doubt ruin the sofa ).

Anyone got any good tips re: reasonable quality and comfort?

we just got a great one from John Lewis for under £500

It is not quite a double would that be a problem?

this one

The bed is very comfortable

CountessDracula · 03/10/2007 11:25

they deliver for some colours in 7 - 10 days too

ImBarryScott · 03/10/2007 11:25

this might not be the most beautiful thing in the world, but we had it a while back, and found it to be deliciously comfortable both as a bed and a sofa. cheap too.

Thankyou!

I'm really glad to know both of those are good. I had looked at them but you can never tell. I hadn't realised the John Lewis one has a wooden frame. I thought it was just foam and wouldn't be sturdy but the frame sounds good. I don't think John LEwis deliver tome though. I'm in Wales and they wouldn't deliver our wedding presents.

Any other experiences of Argos sofabeds. Are they generally good?

aha
I have a solution for that!

the sofa bed is not made by JL

you can buy here cheaper with free delivery to wales

I warn you it is phenomenally heavy

flowerybeanbag · 03/10/2007 13:07

If you are in one of the places where Ikea deliver, we have this one from there, it's stunningly comfortable for a sofabed, much more than others we tried, and reasonable price as well.

Thanks very much. It's great to have recommendations. I'm going to show DH tonight and then brandish my debit card!

If anyone has nay tips about Argos, I'd still be interested. There are a coupld on there that I like.

Thanks again though, that's fabulous!

I can say that I was fairly pleased with argos delivery. They rang to offer a choice of date, I'm pretty sure they offered shorter timeslots than many eg 7-12, 9-2, 12-5, and they turned up on time.

susiemj · 03/10/2007 23:40

Thanks for that BarryScott

And thanks for that link Countess. V. Handy!

I got my metal action sofabed from Argos 3 years ago. I can't remember the exact model but it is similar to the Shannon sofabed. It was about the £300 mark and it has been great. The fabric has survived the onslaught of 2 cats with a big furball problem and my DS who is 4 months old and a little bit spewy now and then. Although the seat cushion covers do remove, the rest of it has been cleaned with vanish upholstery cleaner. The best part was that it was delivered inside 2 weeks.

Just buying one from www.sitandsleep.co.uk. Not overly expensive, 10 working days delivery, great choice of fabrucs, slatted bed base and thick mattress (made from sofa cushions).
