Car seat from 9 months. Advice please

It seems ages since I needed a car seat bigger than a first size one and I'm a bit stuck.

Little one is now 9 months old, very long in the body and weighs approx 19lbs 6ozs.

I have been using a car seat with carry handle and he is just growing to fast to go on using it.

The problem is that we don't drive, don't have a car, but I still occasionally need to take him in a taxi or friends car if I can't use the bus.

Is there a car seat that is simple, light to carry and doesn't need a base to fix it into a car.

We bought Britax Duo Plus Isofix when we didn't have a car
It doesn't have a base and can be fixed by isofix or seatbelt

Probably a silly question, but what is isofix please.

Thank you for replying btw.

Isofix are points in the car that you can fix the seat to
It is more secure than the seatbelt

Not all cars have it but it is more common now in new cars

Ok thank you, will check the Britax out.

You could get a simple one which uses the adult seat belt to hold the seat dna a harness for the baby. Isofix is still uncommon and makes the seat bulkier so imho it isn't worth it for occasional use. Maxi Cosi Priori and Tobi are well regarded in this category safety wise, as is the Britax Duo, fit most cars but none particularly lightweight.
