Which Toy Garage?

I'm thinking about buying a garage for my nephew for Christmas and would like your suggestions please. The ELC one has 15 free cars at the moment so that's my current favourite. He's 2.5, so I'm thinking maybe a bit old for the Fisher Price little people one?

DS plays with fisher price one at childminders and loves it. At home we have one from tescos which cost £7 and is falling apart after 6 months so you get what you pay for. We have been swayed by the free car offer at ELC for nephew's xmas present... not arrived yet.

Thanks ladies. It seems we should have got him the FP one last year!!! Anyone have the ELC one, or one like it?

PS DOn't tell anyone else about the free cars on the ELC one as it's subject to availability and I guarentee by the time I decide the offer'll be past!

We got the (oldstyle but similar) FP one when ds1 was 18 months ... they both played with it for about 5 years! I very recently sent it to charity shop as it was gathering dust in the corner, but they are now 5 and 7 yrs old. It is so robust - it had been climbed on and stood on by countless children and was still in good condition. Highly recommended.

We have the ELC one, we loved it at first, it's now in pieces in a bag under the bed because essential 'holding it all together bits' have snapped. It only lasted intact for about 6 months.

I don't think my ds's are unduly boisterous!!

popsycal · 14/10/2004 14:57

the fisher price one is REALLY robust. we have had it for a year and ds stands on it, 'rides' it and generally gives it a really hard time....and he is a real chunky monkey!

you cant go wrong with it. It is also compatible with all the other fisher price little people stuff (train track etc) and people can buy additional extras to go with it for future brithdays etc

DS2 (now 3 1/2) had the Plan Toys wooden one last Christmas and he loves it. There was a whole thread dedicated to wooden garages in Devember!

wooden garage link

I need one for DS2 age 4, is the fisher price one too young for him?

LunarSea · 14/10/2004 19:25

ds had the ELC one last Christmas (at 2 and 3 months), and it's still intact.

JanH · 14/10/2004 19:27

This is the thread from last year. Loads of links!

tassis · 15/10/2004 08:16

thanks everyone - some great ideas there!
