HELP: Which glass bottles?

Herts501 · 09/07/2020 20:18

Hi all,

My first baby is due in November and I am keen to use glass bottles but have no idea which brand to go for?

Would really appreciate any advice on this and which ones you would recommend?

Thanks xxxxxxx

Hi Herts - excuse my ignorance but why would you want to use glass for feeding your baby?

I understand there may be an environmental benefit from recycling but surely there is a risk of breakage which could be a serious risk (injury or worse) to your baby?

I'm looking for glass baby bottles that won't break easily

Personally I would just rather not feed my baby from anything plastic if I can avoid it because it can leach toxins. I try not to do it myself already. I appreciate the risk is very very small but so is the risk of glass bottles actually braking as they have been specially designed. Glass also does not absorb anything and is easier to sterilise. This is my own personal opinion and I am certainly not judging anyone who uses plastic bottles in anyway, it's just my own choice. There are so many choices to make when deciding on baby products and there is something to suit everyone

Me too. I think all of the leading brands have taken this in to account because on paper it's obviously the number one initially concern. A lot of brands mention what they have done to the design to make them as sturdy as possible. I was just interested to find out which ones people have used and if there are any front runners x

Thanks Herts - my baby feeding days are long gone, it's just nice to keep up. And I don't disagree with you at all!

I imagine very few people have used glass bottles tbh. Is there much of a selection out there?

SacreBleeurgh · 16/07/2020 22:17

I used and liked the NUK ones - just watch not to screw the lids on too tight as they get stuck when the glass cools down! But the teats are excellent, particularly for mixed breast/bottle feeding, and no problems with breakages.

I used the NUK bottles with latex teats (they will compost eventually). They were great.

I also used NUK glass bottles, never broke one - they’re thick and strong. Got mine from Boots and EBay.

I love these Glass Baby Bottles from Cherub Baby.
