Bike Trailers

Now DD number two has arrived (she is 3 months old, DD number one is 2) we want to get a trailer for my bike. Does anyone know what age they can start riding in these? Also, can anyone recommend a good (but not too expensive) make?

Thanks!

All the ones I've seen say from 18mths, so bit of a wait yet!

I reckon they'd be OK from 10mths-ish though? That's what we're planning on, can't wait to get one No idea which are best!

You can get inserts for babies that can't support their own weight yet but once they are sitting up by themselves they should be fine.

We are looking at a Burley Bee. Not the cheapest but it has a rollbar and is generally quite sturdy.

Try ebay - you might find one near you (a lot are collection only as they are quite bulky to post). We were outbid on one last night so someone got lucky.

Used a Burley at Centre Parcs and they gave the advice of "from 6 months". DD loved it but I think DS2 was too little at 3 months, haven't seen the inserts, sound like a good idea

I've got a trailer i'm looking to sell. I've only used it a few times.

Don't know if your anywhere near me i'm near chester.

i have an avon twin trailer, i love it, the best thing to lok for when buying is a storage area at the back, no where near the kids! my daughter helps herself to picnic basket if its in there with her! also changing bag and other bits fit in. i do my shopping with it!
also if you think you might want to convert to a stroller then get one with a kit, mine has a little swivel wheel that clips on and a handle bar at back. Very handy.
i got mine as a shop ex display for ~£60 including postage. one on ebay at mo!

yes mine has all that.

Ds2 went in one at Center Parks (Burley but don't know the model) aged 5 months - they only recommend them from 6 but he was almost sitting so we tried it anyway. It was such a big success that we hired bikes on holiday in France a couple of months later but the French trailers were not suitable for a 7 month old, not very supportive at all, said from 18mths on them though a year probably more realistic. On the advice of the cycle shop we strapped his car seat into it and it was absolutely fine. Probably not recommended by the manufacturers but I think it was much safer than just the trailer.

Ooo, exciting, will look at the Burley ones as DS is 6mths and sits well
