snowsuit?

It's absolutely freezing out there so I went to buy one for my dd who is BIG for her age (13 mo.) and there is NONE! I probably need size 18-23 but I've seen so far only 9-12 max! Best what I found separates - padded pants & coat 18-23 too small - anyway I wanted all-in-one. Are sizes all different in different shops?
Obviously I'm looking for something which doesn't cost a fortune (why oh why George at ASDA doesn't make them)
Any advice welcome!

Should I be using a snowsuit this winter? dd is 8 1/2 months and nearly walking- is a coat and blanket ok or would she be better in a snowsuit. I bought 2 for her when she was born and she never wore them (as they were miles too big and then the summer came)

Have previously bought them in H and M. If you have an outlet centre near you somewhere like Tog 24 (they must have a website) might be good, otherwise I know Snow and Rock (.com?) do them but I imagine they are very expensive.

pixiefish, if you don't want to get a snowsuit, you could get a cosy toes for your buggy, I think they get coldest when they are just sitting, and I am walking, so I'm keeping warm. A cosy toes is like a sleeping bag from the waist down that you stick in the buggy and tuck their feet into. I used mine loads. You can get them in mothercare I think, not very expensive, and not size dependent.

Look in Jojo Maman Bebe or Blooming Marvellous or Great Little Trading they are normally good for this - although sure M&S and Mothercare go up to quite big sizes??

I bought a gorgeous red fleece snowsuit from JoJo Maman Bebe 3 years ago for ds which am now about to use for dd, that's 18-24m. It was about £30 and I believe they still do them. You could fold the feet part up if they are wearing shoes but they aren't detachable so wouldn't get lost.

John Lewis are selling them at the mo in 12-23mths size which might suit you. Can't remember the price but not expensive.

steppemum- I've got a cosytoes- it came with the pram- I was just wondering whether i needed a snowsuit as well- i think they're a bit cumbersome and restrictive- so if i've got a cosytoes adn i wrap blankets around her plus her coat and gloves she'll be ok won't she?

Their bushbaby stuff (hot tot especially for performance outerwear and non bulkiness) is fab and well worth the money. You can also but them on ebay for roughly half the price new. hth

pixiefish, I would have thought that would be plenty, unless you are out for hours in the cold. If you are shopping, then everytime you go into a shop you get warm again. But I'm not in the UK right now, so what do others think?

yurtgirl, totally agree, we got given snowsuits for our ds with detachable feet (for when he was under 6 months) and they were a PAIN. it is so much easier just to slide their feet into an all in one!

We've got one of these polartec all-in-ones for dd2 from jojo maman bebe. They go up to age 2-3 and are great.

They have fold-over glovey bits on the arms and feet, so if they're in the buggy with no shoes on you can fold the ends over, or if they're walking, have their feet/hands out with the flaps folded back.

They also have two full-length zips at the front, so are very easy to get on and off.

managed to get a 18-24 months in adams with attached gloves and no feet in them, so he could still walk about. mothercare also said they went to this size but didn't have any in stock. hth
