Mini convertible?

Hello! We made the move down to Hove from London at the end of February, just before the lockdown.
Never needed a car in London and for a while we thought we’d get away without here.
I’m thinking of buying a convertible mini. Top up when DD in the back, but aching for those too down drives to and from work (when we can finally go to the office) or down the seafront in the sun!
Can anybody recommend? I’ve seen that a car seat can get in the back...also have two Shih Tzus who could easily (I think?) fit on the other back seat for trips to the Downs.
Not planning to use often. Mainly just commuting, Homebase trips (ha!) and local day trips.
DH has been convinced after initially (and reluctantly) thinking something more practical would be good.
Are they good runners? Would get it second hand, no older than 5 years...

Seem to be a lot of Minis about in Hove. And like all cars - covered in seagull poo!

Thanks all! I’m going to keep my eye open for something bigger...actually just seen an A3 which looks pretty good - but if a mini comes along might just get one and see how I go with it. If it’s too much bother, I’ll switch it out.

Ok. I bought a mini convertible. Only two years old and only 10k mileage. And a pretty awesome deal.
DH can squish for a year or two until I decide to be a sensible person.
I’m an awful mother Halo

Congratulations OP - hope you have fun with it! We got a 10 year old one a year ago and absolutely love it! Great fun to drive especially top down in the sun!
No reliability problems so far (commuting daily) although aware of others experiences with these older engines... A newish one like your should be fine anyway.
They hold their value really well so if space becomes an issue (which it eventually may with a child and dogs) you can always trade up to something boring. Till then enjoy!!
