Corian worktop - have you got one?
jenthehen · 08/10/2004 22:05
We've just had a beautiful moss green one installed but it is showing marks that look like grease spots. I've tried the reccomended cleaning products and it has only succeeded in making that area lighter than the rest.I'm really dissapointed and worried that it could be ruined. Does anyone have any experience of this?

I have a Corian countertop, also green, the colour is Tarragon . I love it and I haven't had any problems with it. It's now 15 months old. I don't know what to suggest, sorry.

What do you use to clean it with? At the moment I am so cautious with it I tend to put everything on my wooden chopping block to avoid damaging it ie wouldn't dream of using pastry cutters on it in case of scratches.

I just use a regular spray cleaner. I don't cut directly on the surface, because then it will scratch.

Phone up the company who sold you it and tell them what has happened - insist on someone coming out to check it for you. Corian looks lovely and is not cheap - if you have looked after it exactly as told and used the recommended cleaner with no good effect, then I would complain now. I have never heard of spots forming before and it sounds really dodgy - get on the phone and get assertive!
