My dd has a joint birthday party to go to this weekend, girl and boy who are three.

I have bought the girl a bead set for making neclaces and a pair of dressing up shoes came to about £6.50.

But do not have a clue what to buy the boy. It all seems to be toys with guns or just too expensive as I want to spend about the same on each child. We have been inudated with party invites so can't spend a fortune. I saw a loop the loop car thing in Tescos for £7.00 which dp said would be good. But it was for 4 up so don't know if it might be too old for him. although he is quite a grown up three!

What do other mumsnetters with boys think?

My son was mad on Thomas at that age or toy cars

Is he into trains? If he's got the wooden train sets you can get one of the bridges or level crossing or something like that - not too expensive in Tesco.

For a 3 year old boy birthday this year I got a remote control car from Tesco and it was only about £6 or £7. I think the age guide was a bit older but he loves it.
