DS2 wants one for Christmas, and my understanding is some work, and some don't - i.e. the cars usually just fall off.

Does anyone have a good one they can recommend. Is the Penny Racers one from ELC a good one?

We tried a v cheap one from Woolies, roisin - Chad Valley on a 3-for-2, it worked out at about £6! It worked perfectly BUT the novelty wore off very quickly. Mind you DS2 was quite a bit older than yours at the time - 7 or 8 I think.

The ELC one looks fab, much more robust, and ours didn't fly through the air at the end either. I think some have double track though so you can race 2 cars - I don't know if that would be more fun?

HTH!

DS (aged 3) got one for his birthday and hasn't stopped playing with it for three weeks. It was £7 in Tesco.

ooooh KBear, I bought one of those in Tesco for a friends little boy who is going to be 4 this weekend. Glad to hear it's a good toy.

Oooh thanks! I particularly like recommendations which urge me not to spend too much

Yup - DS (4) got the Tesco one & its more than adequate. Bit of an art setting it up to the right height though so that the cars go fast enough but don't fly off !!
