Has anyone used a karvol vaporizer???

Has anyone got any experience of using the karvol vaporizer and whether they make a difference. My dd(just turned 1) has a terrible cold and cannot sleep. We have put her bed up, have pots of karvol and hot water, give her medised(works for a little bit) so wondered if I'd try this.

Yes, it's worth a try. They are quite good, but if she's really bunged up, a steamy environment will be more effective.

If you do use one, don't forget to change the cartridge every couple of nights, as they do run down quite fast.

Also try raising the end of her bed to allow any mucus to run down the way.

Yes, weve tried it, think it helps as it releases the vapour all night, not a total cure but it does some good. But what lulupop said is true, the cartridges dont last that long.

I was wondering about this the other day. I haven't heard of the Karvol vaporisers until now, but I have emptied a karvol capsule in the water of my normal humidifier. The smell was so strong that obviously Ds slept better, but it left me wondering if it was a good idea. Do you know if you can overdose an 18m old with Karvol mixed with water?

Boots do an owm brand one which is just as good but much cheaper and the smell is not quite so strong - we have one for DD and it is great and very safe as is a little electric heater that you put a pad impregnanted with smelly stuff in.

think I will give it a go and see how she feels with it during the day first. thanks for opinions on this. Its horrid seeing them feel rotten.

I have the vapouriser, but the cartidges run out so quickly, and aren't exactly cheap, that I tend to use the capsule now and squish them onto one of DH's hankies and leave near the cot.

Boots havee 3 for 2 offers on these occassionaly.

I got the vaporizer and think its good but as you say the cartridges are not cheap so will use it sparingly. The idea of the capsules is good, they are cheap in boots right now.
thanks for your help guys
