French MNetters: can you recommend a magazine for me to order for my mother?

My mother will be 85 next week and I would like to get her a subscription to a French magazine. She is a retired secondary-school French teacher. She normally manages to get to France (with us) for a holiday each year and she attends a French conversation group each week, reads French novels etc, but I'm sure she would enjoy getting a French monthly or weekly. I had thought of a few, but they all seemed unsuitable - not Paris Match (she has no interest in celebrities), but also not Le Nouvel Observateur or Le Monde Diplomatique (a bit too heavy going). She reads the Guardian assiduously and would also like magazines with features about French culture, wine, different regions of France etc etc, Any ideas? Many thanks.

I know what you mean about Le Nouvel Obs being a bit heavy going. Before I lived in France and was being exposed to French everyday, I found it a real effort to plough through the articles.
How about Le Point. It is a weekly news magazine with articles on politics, society, international news, books, music, wine, economy etc. The articles aren't as long and in-depth as Nouvel Obs.
