good toy walkie talkies

Dd's 4th b'day is coming up - she would love a set of walkie-talkies. All I can find on web search are Thomas-themed ones (I'd rather not) or swish £100 ones you wear like a watch (nope). Boots used to do them in garish but unisex purple & green, but now only the above

Any ideas for where I could look?

Do they have to be specifically for children? We have a set of adult ones from somewhere like Argos or Maplin (cost about £20) and ds1 loves playing with them. Great fun if you ever happen to be going somewhere in two cars.

ELC do them - £12.50 for ages 3+

I second Sari's suggestion. I did a price comparison at Argos, and found that the Barbie ones cost as much or more than the adult ones, but were of far poorer quality.

But the ELC suggestion sounds good, too.

Has anyone actually got them to work? We bought DD some last christmas and they were useless and DD was so frustrated with them. They were Ariel princess clam shaped things from ??? can't remember.

Toys R Us do a Barbie set with extra covers, about £12, quite nice - not too Barbie, IYSWIM.

Don't get the ELC ones as they don't work very well. Children and mum both got frustrated
