dd was given a gorgeous very simple (no buttons, stretchy, simple cut, easy to wash!!) petit bateau dress for her bday. I know they are not exactly go out and buy one evryday sort of clothing but would like to see more of their range... anyone know of a good reliable online store?

thanks!

Where do you live? They are opening stores all the time - and there's a great Outlet store near York (where my MIL lives). I love PB stuff.

My children used to wear PB underwear all the time, i just loved the pale pink stripey vest and pant, pale blue for a boy!

John Lewis Oxford Street London do it, other ones would do it to order

Tissy · 06/09/2002 13:43

My grandma used to buy me PB underwear from Harrods!!

SoupDragon · 06/09/2002 14:30

I think there used to be a store in the Bicester outlet village too.

rosehip · 06/09/2002 17:04

It's either La Redoute or Vertbaudet that sell the PB underwear.

jessi · 06/09/2002 18:20

I've always bought it abroad, but there is a shop in Notting Hill, London that sell it. If your interested I'll find out the name of it for you.

bossykate · 06/09/2002 19:21

i'm sure there's a pb store in king's road london. that's not much help to you, is it bea? have you tried googling on petit bateau? or any london based friends or relatives who might pick up some stuff for you maybe?

Marina · 06/09/2002 19:30

bea, I see you live in Brum but if you are ever in France it is really worth stocking up. PB and other French brands like Absorba are marked up shockingly in the UK, even in John Lewis stores and even in the catalogues. We spend more in Carrefour in Calais on small pants than we do on wine and beer...the French are not precious about allowing premium quality stuff to be sold in the supermarkets, so it makes me chuckle to think of the immensely fancy shops set up for us Brits. Having said that, the ambiance is nicer than Carrefour...

Poncy London shop Trotters seems to be online now, bea, and they sell it but I couldn't vouch for them being affordable if that's an issue!

Hi Marina- lovely to see you posting. We've all missed you immensely in the past few weeks.

ionesmum · 06/09/2002 21:56

There's a shop called Little Wish in Coventry City Centre that does Petit Bateau, there web adress is www.littlewish.co.uk but I don't know if they do mail order. La Redoute do PB undies/sleepsuits. The shopa t Bicester is well worth a trip if you can't take up Marina's suggestion - which I have to say sounds very tempting!

One thing that I've found with PB is that their sizes tend to be small - our 7 mo dd is already wearing 12 mo sizes. I want to order her some things from Verbaudet for the winter and was wondering if their sizes tend to be on the small size too, and if I would need to order 18 mo sizes ?!

Willow2 · 06/09/2002 22:24

Bea - sure there's a factory shop at Bicester village.

Marina · 06/09/2002 22:50

Yes, order up at least one size Ionesmum.

ionesmum · 07/09/2002 11:32

Thanks, Marina

Hi Bea
don't know about PB at Bicester - I know there's a Descamps (posh French linen always does gorgeous baby sleeping bags) Yes definitely buy bigger size for PB - my dd was wearing 18 months at 7 months too. Also great tip for mums- PB do great range of simple t shirts up to 18 years old. All French women wear them too. I'm a size 6 and wear age 14, my m-in law (she's French) is size 12/14 and she wears age 18 (she's coming up to 60 years) They feel beautiful and I buy mine in France (about 8 euros for two) - can't beat that. we're off to Calais next Tuesday to stock up on babywear (as well as food & wine) Also in Calias, there's a great shop called Du Pareil au Meme - great baby stuff - very cheap! Happy Shopping everyone.

GillW · 17/09/2002 11:24

Agree on the sizing of PB stuff - my DS was wearing age 2 when he was only 6 months.

Bea - there are direct trains twice an hour to Bicester North from Birmingham Snow Hill.

reager · 19/09/2002 22:57

I found that the PB baby vests are cut very low and even cut in to thigh area. Iana on Kings Rd, London vests are great. Same soft cotton but better fitting and with only 2 fastening domes. Not much of a website unfortunately.
