Ford Focus Ecoboost 1.0 Vs 1.6l

Has anyone gone from a 1.6 Ford Focus to an Ecoboost 1.0? How is it? Currently have a 1.6 but it's getting old and need a new car. I do a lot of motorway driving so need it to be able to "go". Any experience?

I have the 1.0 eco boost (Mk 3), and previously had a 1.4 (MK 1). It’s actually extremely zippy and you would never know it’s a 1.0 l engine. I commute on the motorway and can get up to speed very quickly - in fact I’m usually getting impatient at how slowly the car in front of me on the slip road is building up speed.

Thank you. I've read that ecoboost mpg can be a lot less than advertised. How did you find the change to Ecoboost (assuming your driving patterns stayed roughly the same)?

I get 42mpg on the Mk3 (it’s advertised at 51 mpg). If you’re looking at the Mk4, it should be better than that, though.

We got a new focus in November and went for the 1.5. Didn't feel like the 1.0 had much go at all.

There have been some nasty failures due to design flaws with the 1.0 Ecoboost and Ford weren't prepared to help anyone until lawyers got involved. I would steer well clear.

We have the fiesta eco boost. It's a bloody brilliant little engine.
