Cherish Registration Plates - Selling/Buying

Does anyone have any tips on selling a numberplate. Our car registration starts SO0 and I was thinking it might be a nice christmas present for a Sue! Not sure where to start really. I'm thinking of selling because I want to buy my husband a personalised plate for his Christmas present and hope to off-set some of the cost. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Ebay? But, out of interest, why do you want to get one? Being nosey, have never understood the appeal

Me neither, Tinker - though I used to work with a woman who transfered her number plate whenever she got a new car so that she didn't have to remember a new one!!!!!!

you can contact different companies that will advertise it for you then take a commision for selling but they wont buy off you dirct unless you had a realy a flash one worth a fortune that they were gona make loads of money off! i dont think you would get very much from that reg as sue is a very common one to get hold of and if it is a new reg with 7no's and letters only the women who has it will know its private, this defeats most of the objective to owning a private regi have one there is no point being poor and looking like it!

That's okay Mrs Coddy as 3 of our 4 cars have one, DS doesn'tt cos he only passed his test last month,8 weeks after his 17th birthday, but we'll get him one soon.

DD's is so cool, she has 4 initals and wehave manaaged to get a plate to read that.

cocococo, there are some sites whereyoucaninput your plate number and they will give you a value. Never paywhat they are asking either,we didn't forany of ours.

Tinker, it is a bit of fun!!

There is one near us called "SU51"

I always cringe when I se it
woudlnt like white van man saying " hi Susie " to me".
Dh has the first half of our VERY distinct surname, he joked that he wants me to gte the second half

I find them cringe worthy - there were laod s in Four OaKs, Sutton Coldfield, where we used to live - it was very "footballers wives" there,
