Just remembered that DD is invited to an older friend's party on Saturday. While we have a fair idea of what 3yo's like, we could do with advice on what to buy for a six year old. Don't see her often enough to know what she's into, so all advice from anyone with a little princess of the same age very welcome. Ta

hate to say dd's friends are getting into bratz things (taking over from barbie etc apparently.

Don't personally like them...

other ideas.. makeup sets..and pink dressing up stuff.(clip cloppy shoes)

If she is arty then there are lots of sets to make and paint (trinket boxes etc)
friendship bracelets (things she can share with pals)

Depends on how 'sophisticated' a 6 year old she is... some of them are 6 going on 16 believe me!

I'd go for something in the craft dept myself - they usualy go down well.

Goddaughter this age likes Horrid Henry books, nail art and temporary tattoo sets (but her mum's not so keen , things with a ballet/princess theme, Ello stuff.

something crafty that she can make herself? like a necklace making kit - I have a 7yr old niece and am racking my brains to try to remember what she was into last year. Barbie outfits if she has the doll?
really struggling here as I have boys- sorry!

I would second secur's and zubb's advice. I would be very pissed off with anyone who bought my 6 year old make-up I'm afraid, old spoilsport that I am. Hair bobbles and slides and things would be better. At my dd's party she got loads of bags and hair slides and things. She and I were both pathetically grateful to anyone who gave her a doll or something to play with!

I second the bratz ideas, just bought one for friends daughter, aged 7 - very popular at the moment

Also anything animal related. I can't remember the exact name but there are little mini sets called something like "Fetch the vet" - Tescos and Woolies do them. My 6yo dd spends hours with her various mini puppies and kittens.

Thanks everyone - as reliable as ever. Picked up Nevra Brat from Woolies this afternoon - she's the one with the least revealing outfit. Is it me? There was some sort of Bratz Naughty Night outfit which looked like Madonna-esque lingerie. At six? Anyway, I'm sure the birthday girl will love her Brat - thanks again.
