Oliver Bonas security tags :( (XMAS PRESENT!)

Oh dear.

Yesterday, I worried I hadn’t got my mother enough for Christmas (after a typical phone call with my sister, realising she’d particularly spoiled her this year!).

I nipped into town and went to Oliver Bonas which our mother loves and found a gorgeous little jumper as an extra gift.

They wrapped it in stupid tissue (as always - useless!) - so I didn’t get a chance to look at it until just now.

I’ve gone to rewrap it today now I am back with DH and DD at my parents house for Christmas and noticed the security tag is still on! Sadly, there is no Oliver Bonas in the town near here (or anywhere near!) so I can’t pop back....

In an ironic twist, I passed one this morning on our way up from London and popped in to grab another top (for myself...oops!) that I had seen whilst shopping yesterday! Yes yes, I should have been more prepared with wrapping but hey ho....

Does anyone have any experience with their customer services? I’m hoping they could send a replacement sharpish (I know they do next day....). But I don’t really want to buy another one and then return this. It’s just a faff.

DH wants to take two forks to it. But it’s white wool and I’m scared of any ink in the tag or just pulling it too much.

Any other last minute Christmas disasters you’re having to make me feel better too would be great 😂.

OH! And I have a receipt. I promise I’m not a rampant shop lifter. 😂

As time goes on I’m tempted to let DH have a go at forking and be done with it...but their customer service opens tomorrow at 8am....must be patient!

If it's not a dye one just force it off using a knife

Ginger1982 · 22/12/2019 22:15

Is there any way you could give her the top you bought for yourself and then take the other one back later on once you're home?

Justmuddlingalong · 22/12/2019 22:15

If it's the magnetic type tag and you have a receipt, I'd red neck it in any clothes shop near you. Just explain the situation and rely on Christmas spirit. Good luck.

BrieAndChilli · 22/12/2019 22:16

Do you have the receipt? Could you take it to any shop and show them the receipt and ask them to take it off??

BrieAndChilli · 22/12/2019 22:16

As in not an Oliver bonas but some other clothes shop?

MyKingdomForBrie · 22/12/2019 22:17

Just give it to her with the tag on and explain! Then you can have it removed in the new year.

Jayneisapain · 22/12/2019 22:20

Brie has a good plan there. There may be some clothes shop employees on MN who could tell you if this might be possible- might be worth starting a new thread with a title like 'question for people who work in retsil'

Jayneisapain · 22/12/2019 22:21

Retail!!

Rebecca980 · 22/12/2019 22:21

Good plan on trying another shop! DH laughed at me when I was in a panic and said “Mark’s will do it. They’re all about the Christmas spirit”

I would give her the top I got for myself, but we’re different sizes.

I don’t THINK It’s dye....don’t they normally say? I also don’t want to pull the wool.

DH has got me a gin and I’m laughing a little now.

I’ll try another shop. If not, I’ll give it her with the tag and she can maybe get it removed next time she goes on a shopping trip to Cambridge, the nearest town with one.

I’m sure your mother won’t mind. It can be sorted after Christmas
