I know this is far too early to think about these sort of things.

Harrods have started an online booking service for Father Christmas this year to try and avoid long queues.
If anyone else wants to go it might be worth booking now before popular dates get full. I have heard its good but friends who have gone in the past have had to queue for ages which has
put me off.

Look at websales.omniticket.com/hod/index.cfm?action=FLEX,

Oh I booked it too, thanks so much, dd is going to get such a kick out of it!

pointydog · 24/08/2007 22:16

my idea of hell

Carmenere · 24/08/2007 22:18

Actually my friend brings her nephew to it and says it is very civilised because it is a booked thing. She said it was lovely, much nicer than a regular shopping centre visit.

pointydog · 24/08/2007 22:19

well yes, any shopping centre visit to santa in a busy city is my idea of hell.

pointydog · 24/08/2007 22:21

we normally went to country garden centres and got some Santa with very broad accent who says 'jesus christ, is that so? god, would you believe it' etc etc. Makes me larf

littlemissbossy · 24/08/2007 22:23

Harrods? why can't you just take them to the local garden centre/church hall/school fair like everyone else

Carmenere · 24/08/2007 22:27

Because I would like and enjoy bringing my dd up to London on the train at the beginning of December to see all the decorations and lights and a bloke pretending to be Santa Claus. It will be a happy occasion for us to enjoy together, a nice thing to do.
And I will get to buy some seasonal goodies in Harrods food hall.

pointydog · 24/08/2007 22:28

lol carm. I know, I've been a complete killjoy. Pax?

littlemissbossy · 24/08/2007 22:28

oh for gods sake I was only joking - where's your sense of humour??

snowwonder · 24/08/2007 22:30

ANYONE ELSE HAVING TROUBLE whoopppsss

getting onto website?

Carmenere · 24/08/2007 22:31

Well tbh I thought that it was a bit mean of both of you to take the steam out of Carameli's OP but I'm not losing any sleep over it

southeastastra · 24/08/2007 22:32

oh i think califrau's brother is the voice of the christmas bear

pointydog · 24/08/2007 22:35

I do think carmenere has a sense of humour. That's a bit harsh.

pointydog · 24/08/2007 22:35

I've never heard of the christmas bear and I'm not tempted to find out more.

southeastastra · 24/08/2007 22:40

aw look at it

pointydog · 24/08/2007 22:43

No.Nothing about that bear is endearing.

UCM · 24/08/2007 22:43

IntergalacticW, Snap, an MN thread about Santa too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Twas swimming earlier

Carmenere · 24/08/2007 22:47

That bear has a star embedded in it's head

MarsLady · 24/08/2007 22:48

I have booked to take the DTs in December. Never taken any of my children to anything like that before. The older kids will hate me. Of course I could just send the DTs with their godparents thereby saving me the hassle and the pure annoyance...... of course were I a good mother I would take them and beam happily the whole time. Sigh................

pointydog · 24/08/2007 22:48

yes the star is worrying

Carmenere · 24/08/2007 22:48

I once had an excruciating experience when I brought me dn to see santa and 'santa' was a bloke that I had, um, snogged and run away from

southeastastra · 24/08/2007 22:49

it's a glam rock bear

pointydog · 24/08/2007 22:50

How did you recognise him, carm? Was the beard a give away?

Carmenere · 24/08/2007 22:52

No he was an out of work male model
