We don?t have pets, but somehow we have got a flea problem in the house. We moved in three weeks ago, and hyself, DH and 16 month old DS are covered in nasty bites.

Please, please, please help me ? I have no idea how to get rid of them!

Do I use a flea household spray, if so, which one and how much? I have an average size 3 bed house.

I?ve posted here because I don?t know what products to use!

Go to the vets and get some proper carpet flea spray and do EVERYWHERE, carpets beds curtains etc.

Go to the vets and get the stuff from them. They can sell your prescription strenth formulations that actually work. If you get the over the counter stuff you will spend a fortune and not shift them (IME)

I worried that it would be that bad!

Oh pants!!!! Just what I need!!!

if you get the good stuff at the start, it isn't so bad.

THe real time waster is doing it over and over, with stuff that isn't going to shift the fleas IYSWIM

Just make sure you empty the hoover regularly, it will suck some of the up but they could get out again, so get the bag out of the house completely.

And remember you will continue to see the odd one after you treat as there will be eggs that haven't hatched out lurking somewhere. Don't worry or think the treatment hasn't worked, they will die and you will be flea-free.

Just had a flea-infestation here and have learnt the hard way that only the expensive treatments and a massive spring clean will work.

Acclaim flea spray. Best there is. Treat whole house. Hoover every other day for about 3 weeks. You will still see them for a while.

You have my sympathy.

Hi SAHMof1

We had the same problem when we moved into our house. The previous owners had 3 house cats that were infested. We contacted the council how sprayed the house 3 times till we got rid of them. They also done it free of charge as we were new owners. It was private property and not rented. Think it was pest control or environmental services. hope you get the problem solved. They're horrible little beggars.
