Which one would you buy and why?
which one cooks rice or do they both?
What size for a family of 2 adults and 3 young childrens/baby portions?

I think they're the same thing, aren't they? Crock pot is the american term for slow cooker.

SenoraPostrophe · 20/08/2007 21:01

what is a crock pot?

you wouldn't really use a slow cooker for rice (in fact you may not be able to cook it in it). slow cooker is for stews, pot roasts and caserole type dishes.

Nemo2007 · 20/08/2007 21:04

mmm I thought one of them you could use for rice, only asking difference as was looking in argos catalogue and they had both?

I have a slow cooker and use it a lot. I have a cook book for slow cookers that I bought in a book shop and it does say you can cook rice, in fact, a larger quantity than you can cook in most rice cookers - I've never tried it but it can be done

Nemo2007 · 21/08/2007 11:01

thanks mrsmckjnr I was lookgin at a tefal one last night that said it was a rice/slow/steam cooker but if normal slow cooker will do it then will get one of them

I actually have two (one's from the 70s - belonged to my Gran) and I call them my slaves, if I make a bolognaise and a chilli I leave them to cook over night, it's a bit funny to wake up to those smells my Mum puts hers on in the morning before work but I'm not that organised!
