Wide shoes other than Clarks

Do anyone know of a shop that will do good school shoes for wider feet?

DSD has just announced that her mum wants me to buy her school shoes before she goes back because she a) is skint and b) doesn't have the time to go shopping.

DSD goes back home next Fri and I am working all week so will have to do it tomorrow (NO WAY will DH take her). I said to DSD 'oh, ok we'll go to Brantano on Sat' (because I REALLY dont want to brave town) but she said that she 'can only get Clarks shoes because of my wide feet'.

Typically Clarks are in the centre of town and tbh I cant really afford to spend £30 /£40 odd this weekend (am down to the last £100 in my bank until the end of the month).

Is there anywhere or am I going to have to bite the bullet?

I was going to suggest Startrite but they are more expensive than Clarks.

Sorry cant be of any more help, had to spend £68 on two prs of Clark shoes today myself.

£36 on a pair if Startrite shoes for my dd on Saturday! But around here, Clarks & startrite are the only two who do widths.

I don't know of any other that do width fittings, but some makes are wider than others, there was a thread on this a couple of days ago

i get shoes for my children from an independent shoe shop called stompers, they have on in norfolk and one in colchester essex, not sure about anywhere else.

my boys are all too wide for clarks and startrite, they also have a very high instep, its a nightmare buying shoes for them, i averafe around £40-£50 a pair.

john lewis sell makes other than clarks or startrite, some of the european makes which i tend to get, like primigi, elefanten, buckle my shoe, geox etc and others.

My DD has always had very wide feet (G fitting) and she has had a couple of pairs of shoes from M&S who do width fittings in childrens shoes (or used to, it's been 3 or 4 years since I bought any from there)

Does'nt brantano have clarks? our local one has them.

Geox are wide fitting, i buy them for dd.

Thanks for your help guys, sadly in the end I had no choice but to brave town, and here I am 3 hours later and £38.00 poorer (and with 30% more grey hair).

Bloody kids! You know, I dont pay £38.00 for shoes, and mine take twice the shoe leather to make........go figure!

The Ricosta brand does wide fitting, they're great on my H-width DS. We get them fitted in the independent shoeshop that does them locally but buy every other pair (ie next size up) from Ebay shops that do them far cheaper.

This really annoys me. I am happy to buy Startrite for my dd - but if you have wide feet - yes they may do them, but you get bugger all choice. She wants pink shoes (don't we all), but all I can find it horrid expensive black shoes! I can't be the only parent with a dd with wide feet.

Ricosta do pink shoes too! They are also eco-friendly manufature-wise somehow. Do a search on Ebay.

mamad - sadly they seem to be able to charge lots of kids shoes (despite tax free ) Ds shoes were 36 and his shoes were 37 this year, add on rugby boots (bargain as half price) and only 19.99.
