Car seats/puschairs???

LadyP · 25/09/2004 19:07

Have just returned from France and have seen these eveywhere.

Car seats that are clipped to wheeled frames so that they effectively turn into pushchairs (without the heavy, impractical pushchair of a travel-system).

I think a brand name was Jele or Gele.

Does any one recognise what I am trying to describe and can recommned where I can one in the UK?

Tx

I got a rockatot car seat for £30 and you can buy a v. lightweight base for £80. so you just lift the car seat out and pop it on the base. v quick and easy.

ps we bought seperately - may be cheaper to buy as a package??

I bought the Mamas and Papas travel system and found it excellent. You have a base that is fitted into the car using the seatbelt and you clip the baby car seat onto this. The seat is quite roomy so you get lots of use out of it. I had the carrycot and pushchair which also clip extremely easily onto the chassis. Brilliant on school run!

Known as "3-in-1 travel system" when bought with pushchair element. Not really worth the extra money IME, as when babe is 6 months you'll get a lightweight Maclaren like everyone does anyway. Also, bear in mind newborns shouldn't spend v long in car seat as not good for their spine alignment. If you tot up the time spent getting in and out of town plus going round the shops, you're soon looking at several hours in the car seat for baby

I got a pram and transferred baby in and out of Britax rock-a-tot. I had thought perhaps travel system would have been good to keep DS/DD asleep, but since they both awoke with the slightest change in environment, it wouldn't have made any difference.

I had the american version of this and found it invaluable. The american wheeled frame is called Snap n Go and it takes many different brands of car seat. I also had a base in the car so that I could pop the car seat in and out without undoing the seatbelt.

Thanks you all, especially Fairydust, because the link you posted was for the product name I was looking for.

Thanks again.
