Luxury or Practical??

I’m buying a new car, first time in 10 years. I’ve always had little diesels - Corsa, Astra, Saxo. Now due to a friend selling it, I have the option of a Mercedes CLC Kompressor. Only 2 door. I’ve never had anything as luxurious as that before and it’s an automatic which I’ve never had. I would love it for me but feel it’s not practical for my 6yo and 8yo so I’m looking at a Hyundai ix or maybe a Clio...

Would you go for the practical option for the kids or a little bit of luxury for yourself??
Help!!!!

I am in the market for a new car too. I've had a 2 door convertible for the last 5 years. We make it work!! Children are same age.

Time has come for a new car, am leaning towards fun car again!!! Do you use car for school run?
Do you need a big boot?

I’m definitely keen on a fun car, feel like I’ve earned it!! I do some school runs and would use it for groceries, running kids around and I drive around a bit for work. I do need a decent boot but the merc does seem adequate... I’ve never driven an automatic before but when I tested it, it felt lovely!

When I got my first 'big job' a colleague said was I going to buy a sports car and I said I didn't need one, he said 'yes, but you'll think of yourself as someone who drives a sports car.' About 10 years later, having swapped my battered polo for a second-hand convertible, I feel pretty sexy in it. So, whatever puts a smile on your face, OP!

Thank you for replies. I took kids for a test drive of the merc today and they said they couldn’t see out the windows so didn’t like it 😕 I’m gutted! I really loved it and like the idea of something special for me but I think it has to be right for them too...??? Am I mad???

Me is go for the Merc. The kids will get used to not being able to see out of the windows. And they will grow. They can always listen to audio books and songs while they are in the car. It’s your money not theirs. Think of all the pleasure you will get from driving it.
