My DH had his new car deliver a month ago he’s always been a car person, he bought himself an Aston Martin. My DS is 19 and has his drivers license. When me and my DH went on holiday we came back to find out he had crashed the car whilst trying to impress his mates. My husbands fuming and insurance won’t cover it what shall we do? Should we take it from his savings or make him work for it. It’s causing a split in the family. Any help would be greatly appreciate.

Bloody hell!
How much are the repairs and how much are his savings?
Do you pay for his own car and insurance?
Was he legally insured 3rd party, or driving illegally without insurance?

My overall response would depend on whether he drive illegally and whether I pay towards his own car.

Does he stand any chance of earning enough to pay?

But it isn’t just the cost, it’s the loss of trust in driving the car, and the stupidity. I would want to address these as well as the repair cost.

Make him pay for it and no more driving privilege ever again. He's massively taken the piss!

It’s causing a split in the family

Why? The car belongs to you and your husband, you decide how you should be compensated. No split in family. Anyone else in the family has to accept it or you get the police involved, and then you can claim on your insurance for theft, and visit your son in jail.
