Dacia Duster or Dacia Stepway

Has anyone owned/driven both of these by any chance? Trying to decide which one to go for. I know they are a budget brand with Renault parts etc and don't have all the frills of the higher end models.
Looking for the cheaper 4x4 option as have moved to the country. Want new and the price is appealing. Past cars have been 2 VW Polos, Saab and Golf GTI. The price of a new VW Polo is way more than the Dacia Duster! Mileage would be low as only used for pottering around etc. and don't require high spec interiors etc though would not go for the basic model. Interested to hear from other owners their thoughts?

I don’t own one, but have known people who have. With cheap cars you definitely get what you pay for.
I’d consider a second hand Skoda Yeti, a better made car.

Why don't you just test drive both?

Stepway is not a Dacia model in itself, but a version of the Sandero hatchback or Logan estate. They're different from standard models by having raised suspension and some under-body protective kit so they are better off tarmac, but they are not four wheel drive.

The Duster is well-reviewed and owners seem to like them. They are available as two wheel drive or four wheel drive.

We have a diesel Logan (not the Stepway, which wasn't available when we bought)) and use it for general pottering about both in town and in the country, including regular visits to parents who live up a half-mile long dirt track out in the sticks. The standard Logan/Sandero both have pretty good ground clearance and it copes with the rough track fine, better than our four wheel drive saloon.

It does everything we've asked of it and we are very happy with it. It's not the last word in luxury and it sometimes feels like a car designed 15 years ago, but for the money it is amazing value. We'd happily buy another.

They are pretty basic but reasonably competent. You cannot get a brilliant 4x4 for that money. You pay peanuts etc.... However the new model is a huge improvement over the previous model.

OMG. I was skimming the active threads and thought this was "baby names". Thankfully not.
