Ford Ecoboost - engine issues?

Has anyone had engine issues resolved by ford with the Ecoboost edge?
Ours is only 2013 and will cost 2k to fix the engine. Garage mentioned ford have replaced some of their engines because of faults.
Anyone experienced this?

Looking online, the fault recall was for 2017 models, where the engine had a risk of catching fire.
Reviews for the model seem generally good, apart from the fuel injection, which has a tendency to build carbon deposits, impairing engine efficiency.
I suggest you look on petrol head websites or car reviews, rather than Mumsnet, for the opinions you seek!
