Has anyone managed to get a goodwill payment from Volkswagen?

To cut a long story short I bought a 2014 VW Transporter from a VW dealer with FSH. I've had it a year and its essential to my business. Now the fuel pump has gone (60k miles) and particles have damaged the entire engine causing a massive failure. It will be thousands to repair. VW are saying it is out of warranty so tough. Their worst case scenario quote is £7500 plus VAT, I can't even cover half of that.

I'm hesitating to fight as it will cost me to relay it back to the dealer (it was relayed to an independent garage) and for more diagnostics and I may be no further forward.

Any advice?

Having had many VW's the last nearly new golf, we have a video of the sales man lying about the spec, and they are just not interested, take your money and run.
I wouldn't hold out much hope, but try a good specialist solicitor for advice, I would also hunt down a good independent VW specialist for a second opinion.
I would also as on here

Look for the T5 section.
A used engine might be an option, but you need be 100% certain of the issue before you commute to a repair.

I've decided not to fight them, even with a 50% goodwill offer which is by no means guaranteed, I can't afford the repair. So a local mechanic is going to mend it and I will sell it and get something else, and definitely not another overpriced VW Angry
