Wondered if anyone knew the recommended age/weight you take the newborn support out. If not when did you take it out?

Hi there.
I actually deal with car seats every day.
The head rest, or support can come out at 3-4 months but you can keep the bottom cushion in till 6 months, although it does vary from child to child. If you have a small baby, you may need to keep it in for a little longer.
Never worry about where your child's feet are in the seat, as your child is very flexible, and they have soft bones, so they don't actually get as uncomfortable as you think. If your baby can still sleep in a fetal position, they are comfy in a car seat, even when their feet are hanging over the bottom.
When they reach 13 kg on most baby seats, or if their head reaches the top of the seat, then they need to come out.
If you find that your child's head is still flopping forward without the head support or bottom cushion then that may not be the right seat for your car.
You can always go to somewhere that tests car seat to get peace of mind.

Incase anyone finds this thread as I have 10 years after it was written, I'd like to add that the wedge can be removed from the headrest, there is a flap of fabric that holds the wedge in. If you pull this out you can take out the wedge and continue to use the headrest. Hope this helps anyone still finding this thread!

Wow this is an amazing thread, with so much useful information.

I was searching the internet for information about when to take out the newborn insert in our car seat for our 3 months old.

Thank you MN! Flowers

Ive read through thread and still none the wiser.... ive moved the support up but that just wasnt safe so put it back down but my baby id long and her feet hang off the edge just a little so what age/weight is best to remove the wedge... i cant find the instructions anywhere🤦‍♀️

You can remove the foam from inside the newborn insert to just leave the head support, pull the insert up and on the left you can pull the foam out :)
I've moved the straps up to the higher inserts under the insert to sit the insert higher as my little ones feet were close to dangling out and left the insert and foam in for now as hes only 10 weeks old, just long 🙈
