Wondered if anyone knew the recommended age/weight you take the newborn support out. If not when did you take it out?

lol maybe design has changed, come out from under desk and dust yourself off smittals!

Smittals · 08/08/2007 13:07

Oh the shame. I used to be a brownie and a girl guide and everything, so the urge to help others is really ingrained. After 35 years of good behaviour I will probably go right off the rails now thanks to this trauma, just you watch .

BalletMum · 08/08/2007 16:54

No I can't see a lever at all. Mine was form John Lewis at beginning of 2007 so maybe they have changed the design?
On another note does anyone else have a problem with the storage compartment door pinging open without warning? Can't use it at all since it opened in the school playground and deposited breast pads, nappy and thrush cream in a trail towards reception. Of course I didn't notice and was highly embarrassed when the headmaster collected the above and ran after me!!!!!

roflrofl balletmum!

So I'm not just being thick not seeing the lever then, fabulous, was getting a bit concerned about whether I should be using the car seat at all if my eyesight had deteriorated below the required level for driving....

NoviceKnitter · 08/08/2007 18:12

lol balletmum - yes - little door pings open all the time! Nothing nerly so useful in mine tho...

Also, does anyone find strap clip thingies have habit of ricocheting dangerously close to LO's face when lifting her/him out? My top tip (you probably all clocked this ages ago) is to tuck them behind the head cushion, leaving a safe path for LO to exit unscathed.

BalletMum · 08/08/2007 19:36

But there are little clips to hold the straps back on the sides of the chair!!!!????? One for each shoulder strap and the crotch bit tuck back as well!!!!!!!!!!!

NoviceKnitter · 08/08/2007 19:44

Where?

BalletMum · 08/08/2007 20:25

You have to lengthen the straps and then tuck them behind the silver bit above the button you use to unclip from the wheels IYSWIM!!!

This is so exciting! I have found the thingys to hold back the shoulder straps, now I haven't got to hold DS flailing in my one arm while frantically tossing the straps aside with the other hand and shoving him in the seat before said ricochet!
Can't see anywhere to hook back crotch bit though...

Egypt · 09/08/2007 01:03

fnar fnar,

the crotch bit goes under the silver circle surround the button you push to lengthen the shoulder straps, y'know between the feet....

I KNEW SOMETHING I KNEW SOMETHING....

Egypt · 09/08/2007 01:05

and yes my compartment flips open - only just started to after 4 months of use. chucking instruction booklet over ground - where it belongs then i guess

NoviceKnitter · 09/08/2007 07:50

again

Can't seem to see where side straps meant to go. More graphic clues please?

Didn't realise I should have been wearing L plates on my car seat.

MrsBadger · 09/08/2007 08:14

have just photographed mine
give me a minute to get the pics online...

MrsBadger · 09/08/2007 08:21

OMG just stumbled upon your thread love it!

Am now going to re learn my car seat and then show off to DP when he comes home from work tonight.

Katy44 · 09/08/2007 09:00

wow I'd heard a rumour there was a way to hold the straps out of the way but never realised it was true!!
Thanks Mrs B, off to try it now.
We really need to tell MC their instructions need an overhaul!
Now, how do i clip my sunshade holder back shut?
Will investigate and report back.
Katy signing out...

MrsBadger · 09/08/2007 09:03

sunshade holder needs brute force to close IME
make sure all fabric is tucked well down into the channel bit then give it a good shove

Katy44 · 09/08/2007 09:06

Katy reporting in
Wow to the strap thing! Couldn't get the crotch one hooked over the silver button, but not too bothered as he can sit on that and then I fish it out, the others did used to hit him in the face!
Cuold not figure how to get the sunshade back in, but the little silver compartment on the back opens - why???

Katy44 · 09/08/2007 09:07

MrsB, I couldn't even gather it all together neatly iyswim.
Will go and try - back in a sec.

Katy44 · 09/08/2007 09:10

aha mine was shut with the shade out, got it in now, am i right in thinking the black rim thing needs to stay outside?

MrsBadger · 09/08/2007 09:13

that sounds right - open compartment, shove all fabric including the supporting wire strut inside, tuck down well, close plastic rim.

Katy44 · 09/08/2007 09:38

think i meant the supporting wire
wil go and have another look
thanks

twelveyeargap · 09/08/2007 12:47

Great thread! I didn't know I had a sunshade... All those trips with a muslin draped over the handle. Arf! Serves me right for not checking the instructions.

I must have a monster baby, because at two months, I deffo need the "wedge" out, but have replaced the head-hugger on the sage advice here. Serves me right for not reading instructions in entirety. Doh.
