Bought a used car-which would not start

Hello, I just bought a used car from a dealership, but it did not start initially and had to be jump started. The car has a valid MOT and only recently had its MOT on July 24th(with no advisors) and full service history and no problems were identified there. The dealer has agreed to supply a new battery. But is this a bad thing that the car did not start? I know nothing about cars so would appreciate some advice.

Not necessarily anything more sinister than the battery, but no-one here can know for sure, without seeing the car.

Batteries don't last for ever 4-10 years depending on quality, so don't dismiss it as it may have been sitting for a few months and this can push a tired battery over the edge look at it this way its got a new battery ready for winter
MOT just shows it was safe to drive on that day.
Just have trip out and enjoy
