ordering cosmetics online fron america

Has anyone ordered makeup from america?
do you get stung for customs charges and vat ?

Have ordered dressmaking patterns from the US and customs opened them and riffled through them, so be careful.

I've ordered make-up but you have to keep it below a certain cost to avoid the charges. I'll have a look and see if I can find what it is.

no but got a mate bringing some back for me - I forgot about VAT though, so not as cheap as I thought (still lots cheaper than buying here tho)

Thanks weebleswobble have seen some great bargains for mineral makeup and shipping is reasonable but won,t bother if extra charges will cancel out the saving

Says VAT should be charged if I understand it correctly.

I've spent less than £40 each time and not been charged anything. The postage was very reasonable too.

Sorry, says excise too, but still I've never been charged. Perhaps it is to do with the amount spent.
