microwave grills

My son says I will regret buying a microwave with a grill because every time I use it to grill it will get splattered with food. Anyone out there any experience of grilling with microwaves ?

Decided to go for the Panasonic all singing all dancing model.
With grill ! Mainly because it ticks all the other boxes including not having to stir defrosting items.
