Sylvanian Families - which are the cutest?

Dd is desperate to start a collection so I've been looking at them on Amazon (they don't have them where I live) & can't decide. Are there some that are easier to dress & move than others?

DD has the canal boat, she seems to enjoy it. My friend's DD hgas the caravan which is also cute. Not sure about the figures. DD says she likes the camping set called Esme's tent or something like that. Not sure about dressing them though. DD says they are all easy to dress...

My DD likes the really diddy baby ones, she has the teacup fair ride and the train and some small mini animals.

Are sylvannian families good quality - ie do they fall apart after a while or will they last

TooTicky · 28/07/2007 21:11

The fuzz wears off and they get nasty shiny bits.

lexcat · 28/07/2007 21:23

dd loves them. the dalmatain family would be her vote, but we do have a dalmatain so she loves dalmatains. What her favorite animal and see if you can get that animal.
www.sylvanianfamilies.com is a great site with the whole range of sylvanians.

My dd has about 100 'Sylvanians' - and every house/shop/boat/car etc you could imagine. You can't move for them in her room! She is 8 now, and has had most of them for, ooh, about 4 years, and still loves them - so I'd say they're definitely lasting quality! She's asleep at the moment, but I'll ask what her favourite 'family' is tomorrow...

PyjamaQueen · 29/07/2007 09:37

She says the mice are her favourites. (The Brown Family? - although they're white!)

dd2 (7) The Panda family, dd1 (8) The Koala family. Believe me, you're on a slippery slope here .....

earlgrey · 29/07/2007 09:41

Apparently some of the babies don't move their arms, but most of the grown ups in the families do. Babies are harder to dress, parents are easier.

Or so I'm told .......

Cloudhopper · 29/07/2007 09:43

Even though they are expensive, they do seem fairly good quality and don't fall apart. Dd1 has removed all the clothes etc., but that's her fault!

Of course they are unbearably twee, but dd absolutely loves them. The only thing I worry about is starting an expensive collection!

Some little girls just adore them, particularly if they love imaginitive games. Plus you can usually get some of the sets a bit cheaper in the sales etc.

I think the nicest are the baby ones - maybe the rabbits? They are her faves anyway.

PyjamaQueen · 29/07/2007 13:36

Oh yes, if they take the clothes off it's a nightmare trying to do up miniature bows etc.
