Can anyone recommend for toddler trikes?

Or tell me which ones they didn't like. My son will be 18 months when he gets it. I really want a parent handle as I have a bad back and I don't want to spend a fortune but I don't want it to fall to bits before hes 2 either. I quite like the look of the one in the ELC catalogue because it folds so we could take it in the car and it could store in our shed. But it doesn't look like its metal though and I wondered if plastic ones are just as good.

Any inof greatfully received, thanks

Have alook on the MN homepage for the reviews. The toddler trikes section has just recently been updated, with reviews from other members.

thanks, I forget that any other bit of mumsnet exists most of the time!

We just got one for DD (she's 2 on Mon). It is made by Berchet and is from Blooming Marvellous.

It did cost £35 though, but is metal and plastic, has a handle and comes apart in the middle for putting in the car. I got it coz it was 'Pink' but they do a boys one too, and I'm really happy with the way it has been made.

That was really useful thanks. The top 2 look very similar. They didn;t have the ELC one as its new. I wonder if anyone has got one on here?

We have a Triang tricycle which dd loves. She has had it for about a year now and it has seen lots of use but isn't really showing how much it has been used.

I have (well, DS has ) a really excellent Radio Flyer one. it is red metal with a blue seat, a little bell, and, most importantly, a parent handle which actually STEERS the handlebar of the trike itself as you turn it.

I saw someone in the park with one and then we HAD to get one... in the end we got a friend in the States to get it but now you can get it here. I've definitely seen a site that does it, though can't remember what it was called, sorry.

Spod - we bought ours at Toys'r'Us, and I've also seen it in Makro, if that helps.

Its annoying it isn't in John Lewis online and its not on toys r us online either. There is one in Blooming Marvellous that looks similar but they don't mention a make name or if it collapses. Smellymelly says she got a Berchet one from there but its cheaper than the one in the survey so it may be a different model.

aah, if you search for baby driver it comes up, but not if you look under trikes or outdoor toys!! (thats john lewis online)
