Audi A3 - family car?

We are getting a new(2nd hand) car and like Audi's, were thinking of the A3 or A4. Does anyone have one as a family car? Are the A3's big enough? Has anyone used one or the VW Golf Plus? We have 2 kids btw. Thanks fo any advice

have you looked at the A3 sportback - a little bigger than A3 and is 5 door

MummyDarlingSausage · 23/07/2007 20:33

Yes That's the one - is it any good?

A3 no, A3 sportback yes but not as your only car cos you wouldn't want to go on hols etc in it, A4 ideal. Ds1's dad used to work for Audi so we tried them all!

its got a good reputation, but most audis do ...looked at it last year when it came out, but didn't get it, as there would have been a 4mth wait for a brand new one, and needed car sooner than that. But, was very nice when we took it for test drive, quite big in back, isofix car seats, decent size boot etc. Depends how old your kids are as well I guess...

It would be our only car so doesn't sound good then for weekends away etc.

a3 not good for only car - esp if you still have a pushchair

We have the 5 door A3
With a 2 yr old and a baby we are finding the boot is too small for all the kit

MummyDarlingSausage · 23/07/2007 20:40

Our dc's are 4 yrs and 6 mnths so they don't take up too much room. We would need a boot big enough for say 3 big bags (for holidays)

Boot is tricky - maclaren has to go in at an angle

No, its not a family car but I love my little sporty green A3. I can pretend that I am in my 20's and have love zipping around in it

Thanks for your messages - it seems it will be too small then - we were hoping to get a 'smaller' car but maybe the A4 or similar would be better.
