they are excellent ds still uses his and he's nearly 5,if you search the threads you'll find loads on tipp trapps.

I think tchibo sometimes do a copy of one very cheaply.

Hi daisybo. We got one, cos of the whole 'sitting together for meals at the table' thing. It is a really great chair, although have to say not the best with a round table we have in our rented flat!! Best thing is that your dd will be able to use it for years and it fits neatly under the table/looks stylish too. I would go for ordering on the internet.

One word of advice: the harness clip (which you won't use till they are nearer one) is really, really stiff. I am so paranoid that wouldn't be able to undo it if ds was choking, so am just using a basic one from mothercare, and dh has bought mini carabina clips from a climbing shop to attach it to the trip trap thingummies on the back.

Hope this waffle is of use...

I would recommend them. Just bought another one (twins) 2nd hand off ebay because not keen on new design of baby set they are now selling.

satine · 22/07/2007 19:57

They are brilliant, and you so rarely see them 2nd hand because they can be used right up to teenager-hood. Mine was worth every penny - two kids on and it still looks great. And there's nothing else that we bought when ds was a baby that still plays an every-day part in our kitchen!

thanks
i am a bit put off by the £160 price tag tho.....
anyone know if the danchair (v.similar) is any good or are the tripp trapps really worh £160?!

or you could spend £15 at ikea and then you'll have £145 in the bank to buy them a chair when they need one...

amazonianwoman · 22/07/2007 21:14

They're fab, I'm just about to get a second one for DS as DD (3) still loves hers. I reckon they'll last them well into "homework at desk" times

Try lullabys for a package deal - £135 for chair + baby set + cushion - don't bother with the Stokke harness, just get a cheap one from Mothercare/John Lewis etc. Or get new one for £99 and get baby set off ebay?

Hulababy · 22/07/2007 21:15

TT are excellent, our best buy for definite. Have used it since DD was 5 months old and it is still in daily use now, and she is 5 years old. Expensive to buy in first place but lasts for years, so value for money in long run IMO. Looks good, very easy to clean and encourages family eating together at the table, rather than baby isolated with out tray.

Hulababy · 22/07/2007 21:17

I paid £140 5 years ago, including baby kit and cushions. TBH I wouldn't bother with cushions. They just need washing all the time, and a baby in nappy is not going to find the seat uncomfortable anyway.

I use the seat at the computer at times

rootscan · 28/07/2007 13:19

don't mean to hijack...but can someone advise on the advantages/disadvantages of the new vs old baby set? i know most places seem to sell the new one but i've seen the old baby set in a few places. is it easier to get the cushion on & off on the new one?

interested in getting one too for my dd...

thanks

We bought ours from www.backinaction.co.uk who will match any other price and deduct another £5. So we got ours for £130 for the chair, babyset and cushions (it was £135 at Two Left Feet). It arrived next day so very pleased with the service too! Dd was a bit unstable in it at first (at 6mths) but is now fine (7.5 mths) and loves sitting at the table with us. I fed her in her rocking chair to start with. We didn't bother with the harness as I only put her in it when I am at the table with her.
