Have just bought a Wii for my dds (10 and 8). Can anyone recommend any suitable games for their age group?

Shrek.
Pirates of the Caribbean.

Thanks. I had heard that the Shrek one (do you mean Shrek the Third?) isn't very good. Will look into Pirates though. They both like the look of Cooking Mama, but the graphics look rubbish to me!

We don't have one but friends do. My DD loves the bowling game on the Sports package.

Tell them to be careful. I had a friend hit me in the face with the Wii! Ouch. Was my falut TBHt though - I need to look where I am walking.

we have sonic which is HUGELY popular
they like the sports too
and some super mario thing is good

also we have a WWII flying game called Blazing Angels which they are v keen on because they like to make the planes crash horribly he he he. Otherwise my dh has dogfights with germans on it and is happy as a pig in mud

pyjamaqueen · 18/07/2007 22:24

Blazing Angels sounds good. Is there a similar thing but with cars?

oh and they have a tony hawkes skateboarding one which my 6 yr old is brilliant at and which I can't do AT ALL

there must be similar ones for cars - we don't have one though

Piffle · 18/07/2007 22:27

we love the wii sports and wii play
also the Raving Rabbits is v funny
Yes be careful we are militant as dd is visually impaired and cannot see danger but ds 13 has still clocked her once with his golf swing...

DS1 is heavily in to Mario Party 8 at the moment. dh and I like it because there is no real violence in it. DS1 is nearly 7 btw. DD (nearly 5) likes it too because it has princess characters although she has been slower picking it up. There is no jumping around like with other games which is good if space is an issue.

If you join a dvd rental scheme then they will often do wii games too so you get to try them out before buying. We hired Shrek 3 - reasonably playable and everyone had fun, but we did manage to complete the games (ie solve the quest) within a week, so while we enjoyed on balance happy that we hadn't paid full whack for it.

For younger ones wii play is OK (and you get an extra controller to use).

pyjamaqueen · 19/07/2007 08:13

Ladymuck - which company do you use for DVD rental? Have looked on Amazon, which we use, but they don't include games in the dvd rentals.
