where the heck canI get a heavy skipping rope so dd stands a hope in hell of learnign to skip?

I think old fashioned "proper" rope is better than the plastic ropes that bend. My Dad had some rope in the shed from a boat shop that fit the bill. No fancy handles but it didn't coil and trip her up either!

You can buy them from sports shops - quite 'in' for training at the moment.

But when I was little, the best skipping rope was made from plastic washing line! Just cut a length to suit and off you go.
