Baby monitors - it says I can't use them outside the UK !

Just bought some new monitors, primarily to take to France on holiday. It says in the booklet that it is illegal to use them outside the UK and Ireland...

Any ideas why ? We took our old ones last year and didn't get our collars felt, so I am inclined just to take them. But could we be flouting some important international regulation ?

the disclaimer on the JL site says it's cause they've only been tested at UK mains voltage...

might be the frequency but our Tomy ones worked in Europe.

The leaflet says it's something to do with frequencies - I can't imagine that they would interfere with aircraft comms - the range is only 300m ...

I'll take a chance (they are Tomy btw). We are going to the arse end of nowhere anyway so not much chance of causing major disasters...

ps - thanks for the theories...I think yorkshire pudding is prob right about 'travel' versions...

our Tomy one worked fine in Spain with a travel adaptor plug.

it is probably to do with voltages / only tested in the UK.

I've used ours (Tomy) in Holland, no probs to report.
