Is There A DOUBLE Pushchair Suitable For The Beach?

JARM · 11/07/2007 10:09

We are moving in August, and will be right by the beach, so of course want a double puschair that will cope with the shingle/sand and not feel like im pushing a tank.

Anyone know of a decent double pushchair that can cope?

DD2 will be just 2 and a newborn.

Many thanks!!

I think the three-wheeler type should work - I had a three-wheeler single and bounced over shingle beaches no problem. Mine was a Quinny Fashion.

Thank you.

Im just not sure which one to go for! I will be using my maternity grant money to buy it so have up to £500, but i keep thinking DD2 is going to be 2 and will only be in it a short while!

JARM you will get use out of it and it will a saleable item when you're finished. Two years love being tucked up and pushed along with the baby rather than wandering behind wondering why they can't sit in the pram now that rotten new baby is here!

KbearBrockovich · 11/07/2007 11:03

two year olds .. I meant

JARM · 11/07/2007 11:05

Thanks Kbear, will have to try and see what i think, after a twin aria with DD1 and 2, i know it wont cut the beach!

JARM · 11/07/2007 11:15

no it doesn't but I hate swivel wheel for the beach. What about the Urban Detour twin? I have the single and it's great.

JARM · 11/07/2007 11:19

can the swivel wheel ones be locked??

The UD looks ok, wheels look chunkier

I think i may be selling one like this if you are interested.

twin pushchair

It is brand new and lime green in colour. Basically in a moment of pregnancy hormone induced madness i have bought two types of double pram. DH unimpressed as you can imagine so i said i will sell one.

It is fab and the carrycot for the newborn is great. But the other one i have bought will i think be better for us (terraced house so smaller one better).. Im just waiting for the other one to be delivered so will know for sure in a couple of days.

Its still in the box and everything...afraid i dont know about beach worthiness but it is a three wheeler with pneumatic tyres.

magnolia1 · 11/07/2007 11:58

On the single it can be locked so I am sure it's the same on the double

JARM · 11/07/2007 16:04

Thanks magnolia - am liking the Urban Detour more and more - think its because the wheels look chunkier!!!

JARM · 11/07/2007 16:04

oh and it comes with the cosey toes too!

FioFioJane · 11/07/2007 16:06

it is difficul;t to get ANYTHING that works on shingle tbh

JARM · 11/07/2007 16:07

but fio - i NEED something! After living in large towns all my life, im looking forward to being a stones throw from the beach, even if it is crappy shingle!!!

My children will be there every day come rain or shine - i swear!!!!
