Learning to drive - nervous all the time!

I'm 38 and learning to drive having put it off for years after losing a friend to a car accident at 17 (he had just passed)

I have had 4 x 2 hour lessons so farand doing semi-intensive. My instructor is a lovely lady.

However I'm so nervous all the time - and had a bad lesson yesterday when an impatient driver behind me beeped for aged because I was taking my time down a windy narrow road. I lost confidence and then kept making mistakes, panicking and stalling when traffic was behind me at traffic lights and finding roundabouts terrifying!

Does it get easier? Any advice on how to handle nerves? I now feel kind of sick and shaky about an hour before the lesson!

I don't think I stopped being nervous about driving until well after I had passed my driving test. I am a confident driver now, but it just took lots of practice to get there. Please keep doing this, you will regret it if you don't.

Thanks! Today's lesson was a bit better and I got my confidence back a bit. I will keep practicing and not give up!
