Any one got a garden vac? Are they any use?

Hi now i have a baby i am looking at ways to save time and effort, and figured a garden vac might help, esp as autumn draws near. I have heard mixed reviews - any one got one? Make and model? Does it cut the mustard?

I have one but TBH, it's not much use as if the leaves are too wet, it just clogs up. When are english autumn leaves not wet??

I have one and it's good for blowing leaves into a pile on a gravel driveway which you then pick up by hand. Useless on grass, useless on wet leaves. I got it with loyalty points from some credit card or other a few years ago - I wouldn't buy one. An old fashioned rake is less fun but just as quick. (And good exercise)

Next door neighbour swears by his but the rest of the street hates it - it's SOOOOOO noisy. And judging by the fact he uses it three times a week it's not very effective either ...

CRAP CRAP CRAP - you have to be careful about what yuo pick up as any stones will really bugger it up so best thing to use it for is as has been said blowing stuff into a pile and then you have to pick up by hand (broom could do job just as good then!!)
DP also nearly blew ours up when he cleaned the rabbit hutch with it - apparently they don;t like straw and start smoking and shaking!!

Oh Balls! When are kids old enough to play the fun "lets rake all the leaves into a pile" game?
