Anyone got a Canon MP180 printer and know how to remove (an invisible) paper jam?

Am in a fix here.

Can't see any jammed paper. Need to print off around 50 flyers before tomorrow

I turned my upside down and a little plastic thing fellout, then I took the printer carriage out from the rear and found a foam earplug bloccking the whole thing.

Turned upside down - nothing. Can't see how to remove printer cartridge from rear (probably being dense)

Sorry mine is a different make, but the sdvise I got from techinical sites was pick it up and shake it (very technical).

24 hour Tesco - printers now so cheap paper jams are not worth the time spent unjamming! If only they came with a carbon neutral spontaneous combust button (that never jammed).

Sadly it is not a cheapy tesco printer (has scanning and copying function and can probably boil a kettle) and I desperately need it to start working again!

Soz....couldn't resist!

NoodleStroodle · 06/07/2007 10:12

Now I know why my son never brings home anything from school - it's on invisible paper!

Sorry - not helpful - have you tried turning on and off just in case it's confused?

handlemecarefully · 06/07/2007 10:16

Yep done that Noodle
I'm confused, never mind the ruddy printer!

Do you still have product handbook? Maybe dust (can I use that word on MN?) or small shred of paper is confusing the paper jam sensor? Don't have a Canon, but our last HP was always doing that, usually due to DH wrenching 95% printed documents out. Or can you email it to someone local and get them to use their ink?

handlemecarefully · 06/07/2007 10:24

No product handbook. I suppose I could goggle on the net...

Yep will email to a friend to print. Frustrating though!

Thanks...

The memories come flooding back ... if it is a scrap of paper 'jamming' it, try a sheet of thick cartridge paper, feed it through manually, (if you can) and see if it pushes whatever it is through. Then scream into a pillow?

handlemecarefully · 06/07/2007 10:38

Good plan I will try that (with a pillow on standby!)
