Nametags Needed - from where?

Hi all - dd has started school, and needs to have nametags in her clothes. Can anyone tell me where to get them?

By the way - was amazed to see how many of the mums have actually embroidered (!) their child's name onto art smock. Starting to feel quite inadequate in the competitive "mummy sweepstakes"!

I get my labels from studio catalogue. I think there is a website too. 100 labels for about a fiver, enough to last the whole school career.

Another vote for easy2name iron-on tapes, they are fab.

I've spent 4 years sewing on nametapes by hand - which I hate So was delighted to discover these this year! Even though I bought mine the week before the mumsnet discount was negotiated.

They really do work.

I've also bought the white transfers which makes sorting black school socks in the laundry simple. Probably not relevant for girls though!

Just ordered some on your recommendations

oxocube · 07/09/2004 12:47

Marks and Spencer do them while you wait apparently.

lydialemon · 07/09/2004 12:54

Well I'm totally inadequate as despite having the excellent easy2name labels, I still write their names on the laundry labels in pen in a panic at 8.30.

lydialemon - I wrote name on dd's tag this morning too! When I got to school and saw those carefully embroidered names, I thought I should get some proper name tags sorted at the very least!

Here's another query - do you label shoes, and if so how? DD's school has ballet lessons planned for later this week, and I wondered if I should simply write her name on inside of shoes in permanent ink.....

I write in them (surprise!), but you can get special shoe labels - I think they are in the easy2name pack. If I could find them I'd check...........

roisin · 07/09/2004 14:12

I get shoe labels from Able labels

You can also get 'write on' shoe labels from Start-rite stockists.

Hulababy · 07/09/2004 20:28

Can also recommend the easy2name labels.Won a pack in the MN competition and they are great :)

Mo2 · 07/09/2004 20:41

I can also recommend the Easy2name stuff - especially the iron-on white transfers - they're fab!

We found the Easy2name shoe labels (with special sticky strip over the top) didn't work - don't know if DS1 has especially hot feet, but they ended up slipping all over the inside of the sole!
My recommendation for shoes is either a silver pen, if the shoe is dark, or a launcdry marker if light, and re do it regularly!

Incidently, if anyone is looking for cheaper alternatives than Easy2name, I got some greta cheap iron-on labels from eBay... look here: Loads of Labels
Worked just as well as Easy2Name, and more text options, e.g. phone no. or class etc

poppyseed · 07/09/2004 20:56

The M&S ones are £4 for about 50. They don't look as nice as the embroidered ones though

poppyseed · 08/09/2004 15:03

Just ordered some too from easy2name.com.!!

bundle · 08/09/2004 15:12

do you put the whole name on them btw? including middle name?

Earlybird · 08/09/2004 23:57

Thanks for the suggestions/advice. I knew I could count on the mumsnet network!
