Lego-Where's the best/cheapest place to buy some for dd.

i got some roof tiles from the lego website at christmas, delivery was really quick. did seem quite expensive but i couldn't get the bits anywhere else (apart from in humungous kits)

Was going to go the Duplo route but reckon I may as well just get on the lego slippery slope....

there's some stuff called belville which lego does with girly themes - palaces etc but it's not available in many places

megablocks are cheaper version iirc of duplo. woolies often has its own version of lego (does work with normal lego)which is quite cheap for big box

She'll get frustrated with the little stuff and you can use both in tandem later. Duplo definitely atm - Woolies , Argos, John lewis, The Entertainer, Mailorderexpress all worth a look for bargain buckets of it

2 is too young for proper lego, honestly. my 2 year old dd totally ignores 5 year old ds's 'little' lego.

I have been trying to get duplo on ebay but it seems to go for high prices and then they aren't always the pieces you want, there will always be an essential piece missing, so am just going to go and buy new from woollies or somewhere.

My dd (nearly 3) has this Duplo Dollset

It was hard to get hold of in the UK, so I bought it from this website in the US. Although the postage was a bit hefty, given the current exchange rate I thought it was good value as dd has had so much playing time from it. Loads of people have asked where I got it from - it's a really unusual set, but perfect for age 2 upwards.

25% off lego in woolies at the moment (but might be the small stuff rather than duplo).
Most of ours is secondhand (car boot, charity shop etc) because it is indestructible and you can give it a good clean in the dishwasher or washing machine.

that is fab stringbean. where did you buy it from? i have found it for $80 but the shipping is another $40 (timberdoodle i think)...

My dd (2.5) has the legoville duplo dolls house, which is about £30. It's fab and very pink. You get lots of pieces and can build a whole house complete with garden. If you are anywhere near Bluewater shopping centre they have a Lego shop and we've managed to get some bargains there.

Ooo-a reason to go to Bluewater eh?
Now wouldn't it be a shame if I couldn't fien the Lego shop....

John Lewis do the base boards.

duplo basebords - get lego ones, the duplo fits on it and you will be able to continue to use them later on with lego (lego doesn't fit on duplo basebords).
